Instax Square Link announced

Instax Square Link announced

And just as I’m getting used to the Mini Link 2, Fujifilm South Africa reveals the Instax Square Link printer and it’s another Instax stunner.

So, we’ve all been wondering when square film will get a new printer, at least I have and I guess, the wait is over. The Square Link joins the other smartphone printers in the Instax Link line-up, including the Mini Link 2 and the Link Wide.

If you’re a fan of the square format you’ll probably love the Square Link but let’s take a closer look.

This little square printer offers a number of features not really available on Instax Link printers. Its AR (Augmented Reality) Print and Instax Connect features allow our creativity to flow, making your images individual.

According to Instax, the Square Link transfers an image from your smartphone to start printing in about 12 seconds. It’s small, light (236g), and has a striped finish.

It supports continuous printing and can wirelessly print about 100 Instax photos per charge.

Key features include:

AR Print

The Square Link allows users to add Augmented Reality features to images, such as animations, special effects, text, images, and background colours. Users can view augmented reality content on and around their print by scanning a QR code printed on the image. To see the results in action, users need only scan the code with their smartphone.

Instax Connect

Using the Square Link App, the Instax Connect feature allows you to share Instax images digitally by selecting a smartphone image, adding text and/or effects, and sending it to any connected device whether smartphone or tablet.

Supposedly, you can add text to your images and get text responses sent back directly on the image. I can’t wait to try that out! Recipients who are also Square Link users can even print a copy of the image with or without the text included.

Image modes, design frames and stickers

Similarly to the other products in the Link line of smartphone printers, this one comes with a number of frame templates, digital stickers, and print mode choices.

You can choose, for example, between two print mode options: Instax-Rich Mode for deep, enhanced colours, or Instax-Natural Mode for a more classic look. Smartphone images can also be enhanced with artistic filters or by adjusting the brightness, contrast, and saturation of the image.

Pricing and availability

The Instax Square Link will be available in Ash White and Midnight Green.

The local availability date and the price are not yet available but as soon as I know, you’ll know, promise!
