Naked, the artificial intelligence-driven car insurance platform, swooped in and cinched the best financial solution and the overall best app in the MTN Business App of the Year Awards for 2019.
More than 600 app entries were put through their paces to recognise category winners spanning consumer, enterprise, healthcare, gaming, educational and financial solutions, before the overall winner was crowned.
Powered by artificial intelligence (AI), the Naked insurance mobile app for Android and Apple iOS is the face of a next-generation insurance experience that offers unprecedented user-control, value for money and customer fairness.
From quoting to claiming to generating a proof of insurance letter, the Naked app empowers consumers to control their car insurance policy without needing to speak to a contact centre agent. Users can get a final quote in 90 seconds and sign up for cover in less than three minutes on the app, guided by the friendly chat bot, Rose.
With the CoverPause feature, customers can pause their accident cover with one tap if the car won’t be used for a day or more – instantly reducing the premium for that time.
When something bad happens, Naked customers can also claim on the app. The AI system approves some claims within seconds. If a customer is stuck at the side of the road or needs a tow, they simply click on the emergency assist icon to be connected directly to the Naked Assist line.
“There were so many great apps on show tonight; it is inspiring to see how many entrepreneurs are using technology to change lives. We are truly humbled that from 600 entries we won the overall App of the year. I’m so proud of the team that had the courage to build our system from scratch, with the clear goal of transforming car insurance from a grudge purchase into a transparent, convenient and simple customer experience,” says Ernest North, co-founder at Naked.
“But this is just the start for us: we’re not only growing our car insurance business at a rapid pace, but will soon launch exciting new products in other categories of the short-term insurance market.”
Not only was Naked recognised as the leading App in South Africa, the prize for winning includes a trip to Silicon Valley in the United States valued at R200 000 to connect with other cutting edges businesses.
