Clare Petra Matthes’ father swore she was born waving spirit fingers and singing tah dah in an oh-so-dahling-showbiz-esque manner. Nicknamed “Schnauze” because of her smart mouth and “Superfox” because of her semi-quick wit, she really enjoys putting the world into words and spending time with people who are enthusiastic about what they do. After years as a B2B journalist, then a news journalist and eventually an editor in various industries including forestry (we know), architecture and education, Clare finally found herself at ITWeb covering activity she never dreamed she would – IT, technology and gadgets – a grounding Clare now has expanded upon on a freelance basis. Specialising in product reviews and news, personality features and company profiles, new apps, old apps, security, start-ups, Clare takes an interest in it all. Clare has co-hosted the Talking Tech show on CliffCentral, chatted about tech news on SAfm, MixFM and the Gareth Cliff Show, and written a humorous technology column in Brainstorm magazine. She’s a sarcastic eye-roller extraordinaire with a passion for all things gadget, technology and social media. To her detriment at times, she does see the humour in everything and, the trooper that she is, never shies away from a good old fashioned égoportrait (selfie).
